5 STEPS TO THE BEST NIGHT’S SLEEP

5 steps to best night's sleep

FEELING EXHAUSTED?

No wonder. Being a hustler boss woman takes it out on all of us. I (Zsanett) have always been one to take on way too much, as I love being busy and running around, but that of course takes its toll on me after a while. So naturally I have perfected the “good night sleep routine” and I am here to share it with you all! You can thank me later ;)

HERE ARE MY STEPS

5 steps to best night's sleep

STEP 1.:

TAKE A BATH

I’m not even going to mention the obvious steps you can take during your day already such as reducing your caffeine intake, mainly because you have to know your body, and know exactly how much you can handle to be able to get some sleep. I for one can drink as much as I want and still be able to fall asleep, but I don’t normally go over 3 cups a day.

Back to your bath. I have written a post on my ‘Bath time heroes‘ already a couple of years back, so the importance of bath time has been around for me for ages. Main thing is, you need:

Good bath salts and oils

This to help your muscles and joints relax even further. Epsom salt is a Godsend as it helps you flush toxins out of your body. The theory is that when you soak in an Epsom salt bath, these get into your body through your skin. Just soaking in warm water can help relax muscles and loosen stiff joints. People use Epsom salt baths as a home treatment for arthritis pain and swelling as well, so you can’t go wrong with adding this to your bath. A good bath oil will improve the hydration of your skin, calm you with it’s scent, can help improve blood circulation by dilating blood vessel, reduce in fatigue and stiffness in joints. Again. Can’t go wrong.

Light up some scented candles.

First of all, you are already more relaxed just by having no harsh light in the room other than candle light. Now if you choose one that’s scented is just an amazing plus that I can highly recommend. Choose relaxing scents such as Lavender or Rose. Most brands have already come up with scent mixes that are perfect for relaxing. Have a browse and pick what suits you most.

I don’t normally listen to music when taking a bath, but when you do, make sure it’s calming. Again, obvious, but just putting it out there. No jumpy pop music please! :))

STEP 2.:

POST BATH BODY OIL

That’s right, I double up. A well moisturised body is priceless. And also, I struggle with dry skin, so having the feeling of tightness won’t help my sleep time. So oils on body and face as well for me please!

And as I said before, don’t be afraid to use oils!

STEP 3.:

COMFY PYJAMA AND SHEETS

Very important. Being comfortable when sleeping is key, so make sure you invest some money in good quality pyjamas and bed sheets. I can’t stress enough how essential this step is for a good night sleep, I might even dare and say the most important one for me. Basically what you want is over 300 thread count when it comes to cotton sheets, but I equally love a good linen set as well.

With pyjamas, also go for quality materials, as having some synthetic rubbish sticking on you, making you sweat all night is just disgusting. That goes for sheets as well of course.

STEP 4.:

BURN PALO SANTO WOOD

It’s been an addiction of mine for a while. I find the scent so relaxing. No need to burn for long when going to sleep, as it can get a bit overwhelming. For me at least. Literally light it up for a sec, that will be more then enough.

Benefits of burning Palo Santo wood:

The wood can help brighten energy and promote feelings of positivity and joy. The scent is also shown to reduce stress and anxiety, and enhance clarity and concentration.

PILLOW SPRAYS

This is an either or situation, you don’t want too many scents in your room, as it can be nauseating.

I like to mix them up, depending on what I’m feeling like at the moment. Just to give you an idea, Palo Santo wood will make you feel like you’ve just entered a meditation room, while Pillow Sprays will give you a feel of a Spa break rather. Like you’ve just entered a room and about to get a massage. I recommend getting a spray that is 100% natural in its ingredients, such as & NOW TO SLEEP from Ren Clean Skincare or PERFECT NIGHT’S SLEEP pillow mist from NEOM Organics.

STEP 5.:

MEDITATION APPS

Meditation apps have been life changing for me. Well, not really the meditation part of the app, rather the nature sounds and sleep stories, but there is so much more to discover within the apps, such short yoga and stretch videos and masterclasses on happiness, creativity, mindfulness and so on.

The app I’m using right now is called Calm, where I find the beach wave sounds the most relaxing..

My absolute favourite is the sleep story with Matthew McConaughey called Wonder. Matthew’s voice is just the perfect pick, I’ve actually never made it to the end of the story, nor do I know what the story is about… haha.. Main thing is for me to listen to the sound of his voice and that does the trick.

There are many other celebrities that have collaborated on the app, I can definitely recommend you download the app and discover it for yourself.
