FACIAL WIPES-WHY YOU SHOULD STAY AWAY FROM THEM
Have you ever wondered how damaging this product-that you probably use every day could be for your skin?
You keep hearing you need to wash your makeup off before bed, right? So naturally, you'd look for something quick and easy, maybe for a makeup wipe? Bad move. After much research, here is what I found:
IT'S FULL OF CHEMICALS
So basically since you wouldn't want to sleep with all the nasty chemicals on your face, you'd have to rinse it off with water. So might as well use a proper face wash, right? All the stabilisers, solubilisers and emulsifiers that are in the wipes cause your skin to dry out, can cause blemishes, sensitivity, and reactions like rashes and eczema.
Plus, if you are using a wipe with alcohol in it, which a lot of them contain, it could cause photo-sensitivity, which could lead to free-radical damage that will cause wrinkles in down the line.
IT ONLY REMOVES ABOUT 50% OF YOUR MAKEUP
That was the first thing I noticed when I tested out one of the brands that were hyped up by some of my friends. As I continued with my nighttime routine of AHA Tonic from Ren Skincare, I realised how much makeup I had on my face still. Lucky I had such an amazing product to follow, otherwise I would have never realised, as my skin felt nice and hydrated. I couldn't have been more wrong. It was shocking actually.
In other words, if I wouldn't have used my AHA Tonic, I would have slept with all that extra makeup on my face that would clog my pores.
WHEN IS IT OK TO USE WIPES AND WHICH ONES ARE THE BEST OPTIONS?
There are of course times when it's not possible or would be difficult to do a full-on cleansing routine. When flying for example. So this is when I'd use wipes-or when I usually do use them, but then I make sure I wash my face with water and moisturise at least. For these desperate times, I recommend using ones with the least amount of chemicals and alcohol. It's even better if you can find biodegradable wipes.
