7 WINTER HOLIDAY SKINCARE ESSENTIALS

IMG_1347.JPG

Now that it's the season for those much loved Winter trips, I thought I'd share how I prepped my skin for my snowboard trip. You have to take extra care of your skin, since it's not only cold and exceptionally dry, your skin can get sun- and windburn as well! Don't forget, the Sun is still strong up in the mountains, even on a cloudy day! All of this can effect your skin within just a few hours, so here are my essentials that will help you keep your skin happy while you're having fun on the slopes!

WATER

Duh. Hydrating on the daily basis is always important-funny I'm the one preaching as I ALWAYS forget to drink enough. Well in the mountains, it will be impossible to forget, since your skin will get soooo dry, it will remind you to chug those bottle of waters down. :)

HYDRATION BOOSTER

Very important, since a moisturiser just won't be enough in these conditions. I love this product from Ren Skincare, it helps to maximise moisture levels by helping to draw in water, locking it into the skin for an instant plumping effect.

ANTI-REDNESS SERUM

I don't know about you, but I struggle with redness on my cheeks as it is, now you can imagine how bad it can get once on the mountains. It's just not a good look. :) I've been using Ren's anti-redness serum to try and calm my ever so sensitive skin down on daily basis.

EYE CREAM

As some of you might know by now, I'm a major eye cream fan, I probably have 5 different ones that I'm using right now. I especially like the Pro-Collagen Super Serum Elixir from Elemis when it comes to extreme weather conditions as it's much thicker than my other eye creams, and it gives me the extra hydration I need.

MOISTURIZER

Once I've applied my flash hydro-boost, anti-redness serum and eye cream, I follow with a rich moisturiser to give my skin full support. I really like using Embryolisse Lait Crème Concentré as it my skin absorbs it fairly quick, so I can just move on to my sunscreen.

SUNSCREEN

As I mentioned, being so high up in the mountains, you really need to put SPF on to make sure you don't end up with a nice sunburn after a day of fun. I recommend you use SPF in your daily routine anyway, either by choosing a foundation that's already got protection, or using separate creams for it. When in the mountains, best is to reapply ever two hours for full protection.

FACIAL OIL

I cannot stress my love for facial oils enough. I've already written a blog post about all the benefits you get from using them on daily basis, you can click HERE to read the full article. The one on the photo is from The Ordinary is a 100% Cold-Pressed Virgin Marula Oil which is anti-oxidant rich, hydrates the skin and claimed to help restore a radiant tone.

BONUS TIP:HAND CREAM

For me, having a hand cream on me was a life saver, as not only my face, but my hands got soooo extremely dry as well, I couldn't believe my eyes! Lucky I got this little cutie on me from Crabtree & Evelyn that was small enough to fit in my pocket comfortably. :) Apologies about the bottle being upside down, I've only realised it now that I'm writing this post that I've made that mistake. Oh well.. ;)
