HOW TO ADD FAKE FRECKLES
Happy weekend everyone! :) We decided to make this a makeup-weekend here on the blog. Today I (Sara) will be talking about using makeup to add fake freckles, to create that proper sun kissed fresh skin look. And tomorrow Zsanett will be talking about using statement coloured eyeliners. So to you makeup lovers out there - make sure to watch this space!
I recently did a test shoot with Brighton based photographer Matthew Ring. I really wanted to shoot some nice beauty images, and it was therefor vital that I had a great makeup artist on board as well. Luckily for me our fave makeup artist, Greta Reichel who does the make up for the majority of our THE 4 OF US shoots, was free on the shoot day and wanted to join Matthew and I.
Prior to the shoot Greta and I had a little chat about the sort of makeup looks we wanted to do, as we had decided to try and get through three different beauty looks during this shoot. The first thing I suggested was that we try and do a beachy freckles look. I loooove freckles, I think they are so beautiful and makes the skin looks healthy and fresh.
Personally I get a few freckles on the top of my nose and down my cheeks when I have been in the sun a lot – but I wish I had way more of them!
Seeing that we did this shoot in the middle of January, and I haven’t seen the sun for what feels like an eternity, there are was next to no freckles to be found on my face. We therefor had to fake them... Well Greta had to fake them for me, as she is the expert. Fortunately Greta was also very much up for doing this type of makeup look and had been wanting to test out creating freckles for a while.
She spent the days prior to the shoot testing out this type of makeup, using a photo of her self from her recent holiday to see where to place the freckles. Greta is very fortunate to have lots of cute freckles on her face, and her three week Christmas break spent in The Dominican Republic has really brought them out. I'mm so jealous of her :P hehe.
HOW TO CREATE NATURAL LOOKING FAKE FRECKLES
I think Greta did a great job faking some freckles on my face during this shoot, and I think they look very natural :) To find out exactly how she created them, I have asked Greta to explain this for us – and this is what she said:
What is the trick when creating fake freckles and still make them look natural?
- I think the trick is to layer different coloured eyeliners or brow pencils (depending on what you want to use) so that you create dimension and so that not every freckle is the same colour. Also the hard part is to not draw dots but to make every individual freckle different shaped.
What makeup did you use to create these freckles?
- I used Eyelure brow pencils from boots (2 different colours) and then I used a liquid Charlotte Tillbury bronzer with a little brush as well. But a really great option is to use an illustrator palette as then you can put makeup on top and the freckles won’t move
THE BEAUTY OF FRECKLES
My goodness - how stunning are these girls!! I want their freckled skin :P hehe.
