PACKING FOR A TRIP TO CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA
You may have already read on our Instagram account that I'll be heading to beautiful Cape Town, South Africa in less then a week. It's their summer season at the moment, which started in December and will last until end of March. So, I’m escaping the some of the cold winter UK months for warmer climates in South Africa, where i'll luckily be able to spend nearly 2 months working as a model. I've always wanted to go to South Africa and it’s been on my bucket list for years, so you can imagine how excited I to explore this vibrant city while modelling. I’ll be represented by 20 Model Management in Cape Town and you can see my portfolio here. I honestly can’t wait to see this beautiful country, meet the people there and do some exploring and maybe see some wildlife. Keep an eye out for my up coming posts from SA as i'll be writing about my experiences there and sharing my tips!
FACE & BODY UVA/SPF PRODUCTS
This tinted face cream is one of my favourites and I've been using it for years. Every time I go on holiday to a hot country, I usually buy it at the duty free. I find the texture quite thick, so usually mix it up on the back of my hand with my daily moisturiser so it rubs in more easily. It lasts all day long and gives you a more radiant complexion, and MOST IMPORTANTLY for me; it contains no perfume, emulsifiers or preservatives that can cause irritation. I often get a rash around my nose from skincare products, so luckily, this is a very good SPF product that I'm not allergic too. Yay!
ELIZABETH ARDEN: Classic Eight Hour® Cream Skin is now also available as a daily moisturiser, leaving my skin feeling smooth, light & soft.
Restores skin from the effects of extreme weather and climate changes
Heals skin by reversing signs of dryness
Protects skin from the sun with SPF 15 protection
CAUDALIE ANTI AGEING FACE SUNCARE - SPF30: I got this face suncream given to me at Christmas, so I had not been able to try it out yet but I'll definitely will take it with me to Cape Town.
I read a few reviews and everyone seems to like this product a lot, so I can't wait to try it out myself and see if it does what it says.
This is the Caudalie product description: Especially formulated for those exposed to extremely strong sun rays, this SPF ensures high anti-ageing protection with a wide UVA/UVB spectrum. A velvety texture the formula is easy to apply, providing the skin with a non sticky finish. Perfectly moisturised and strengthened, the skin left with a radiant and even tan.
Last but not least, don't forget to look after your BODY skin! You really need to look after it especially when exposed to the strong sun you find in Cape Town as you don't want to return looking like a lobster! ;) My boyfriend and I are a big fans of the Riemann P20 Once a Day Sun Protection Spray SPF 30, which I usually find at TK MAXX for a few pounds less as it's quite pricey. It's very water resistant, last up to 10hrs (it says) but I do top it up a few times throughout the day, especially after swimming as it can wear off.. Its also super quick drying, so there is no down time in the morning when you want to get ready and leave the house quickly for the beach!
LITTLE HELPERS FOR THE PLANE JOURNEY
Super important is also my personalised silk eye mask from Stephie Ann, which we all got a while ago. It's been honestly helping me a lot to get some rest on a long distance flight.
A MUST HAVE - PILLOW SPRAY: For the flight I'll be packing a tiny pillow spray from COWSHED. I'm loving it, I already used it on my flight to LA. I just spray it over my pillow and a bit over the headrest on the plane.
• Calming Pillow Mist Spray with a distinctive, citrusy fragrance
• Blend of Melissa and Lemon Myrtle essential oils
• St John's Wort and Lady's Mantle extracts
• Made in England using natural ingredients
• Spray on your pillow before bed, can also be used on the skin
ENERGIZING SPRAY: I usually take on the plane a Thermal Water spray from Avene, but recently I discovered the Omorovicza Queen of Hungary mist and might take that with me instead as I'm loving the fresh scent a lot.
Blended with orange blossom, rose and sage waters to purify and tone and apple pectin to restore hydration, this refreshing spray promises to give instant rejuvenation. Formulated with the power of the Hungarian thermal waters, it's a lavish must have. K.D.
Then I'll take also a hydrating face mask with me like this one "Masque Visolastine" from Biologique Recherche.
Also a little body exfoliator can come in very handy to remove dead skin cells from a long day in the sun. Like this one from DECLÉOR 1000 Grain Body Exfoliator
As I have blonde coloured hair I have to be careful when I expose my hair to the sun. I don't want to end up returning to London with yellowish looking hair. So i bought this `Hair Sun Protection spray` from NUXE Sun I'll also wear a hat or a cap when laying by the beach or pool to.
"This hair sun protection, with sun and water flowers, repairs, beautifies and protects the hair and scalp from UV, salt and chlorine. Hair is moisturised, smoothed and beautified and its colour is protected."
I'll pack some hair masks with me and very important a hair oil for try ends and to add some shine to my hair. (Those 2 products you see here besides the NUXE spray are from Germany and only available in the drugstore there ;).
Once I'm in Cape Town I'll be writing some posts about my stay etc. So stay tuned and expect some sunny images coming your way very soon here. xx Annabell
