Some say it's a Man's world, but we beg to differ. Over the last years, and especially lately, we see lots of females in powerful positions as businesswomen, entrepreneurs and even as world leaders. Currently in some of our home countries (Norway and Germany) we have female prime ministers, and of course we also have Mrs May in power here in The UK. The world was also extremely close to see The USA get its very first female president, but sadly we have to wait a bit longer for this to happen.
This post is not however going to be about politics and world leaders, but about bloggers, social influencers and fashionistas who have managed to grow their business empires starting from absolutely nothing. Not far off world leaders though, because what on earth would we do without bloggers…. erm!? Haha.
However in a few weeks time we will be sharing part two of this post, where we will move the focus away from the fashion/blogging-world and over to some amazing women in other (and probably a lot more serious) areas
3 INSPIRING FASHIONISTAS
SOPHIA CHRISTINA AMORUSO – a 33 year old American business women who started her fashion empire “Nasty Gal Vintage” at only 23 years old. Sophia started her career by selling vintage clothes on eBay from her bedroom in San Francisco, and in less than 10 years the company grew to sell clothes for nearly $300 million. In 2017 Nasty Gal was sold to Boohoo Group for $20 million.
In 2012 Nasty Gal was names one of “the fastest growing companies” by Inc. Magazine, and in 2016 Forbes named Sofia one of the richest self-made women in the world. Pretty impressive stuff right! There’s a book called ‘Girl Boss’ about Sophia’s career, which Zsanett has read and absolutely loves. You can also now see the Netflix series also called ‘Girl Boss’, which is loosely based on Sophia’s life around the time she started up Nasty Gal.
CHIARA FERRAGNI - THE BLONDE SALAD
CHIARA FERRAGNI – Italian businesswomen, blogger, fashion designer and model. Chiara started her blog ‘The Blonde Salad’ in 2009, which is also the name of her first published book. In 2011 Teen Vogue named her one of their ‘bloggers of the month’, the same year New York Magazine introduced her as ‘One of the biggest breakout street-style stars of the year’.
Chiara has built her online profile to reach millions of readers and followers. Her Instagram account has over 8million followers, and her blog has over a million unique visitors every month. Her great fashion sense, and high profile as a social influencer, has given her the opportunity to collaborate with major fashion brands like Christian Dior, Louis Vuitton, Max Mara and Tommy Hilfiger.
Not bad for someone who has only just turned 30!
JULIE SARIÑANA - SINCERELY JULES
JULIE SARIÑANA – founder of Sincerely Jules, a top destination for style inspiration. Sincerely Jules was started in 2009, and has now grown to be one of the world’s largest fashion blogs with several thousand daily readers. Julie is also the owner of her own clothing line ‘Shop Sincerely Jules’, where she is also the Creative Director. This large online fashion platform has grown from what is described on her website as a place which was initially started as a creative outlet, where Julie complied all of her daily inspiration, thoughts, and photos of her personal style. Today Julie Sariñana has millions of followers on Instagram, and is a well-established social influencer and businesswoman.
‘Julie strives to create beautiful content to inspire and help her readers achieve their goals. She lives by the motto ‘Dream , Believe, Achieve’ and encourages everyone to do so as well. THE4OFUS - 1 YEAR ON
It has almost been a year now since we decided to rebrand and update our blog, adding the element of our monthly guest bloggers as our 4th member. We are still far from having a large business like the 3 girls we have talked about in this post, but already in these last 11 months THE4OFUS has grown a lot. This blog and all that comes with it has actually ended up going from being just a hobby, to being an almost full time job for us! We love seeing this development and experience that our little business is growing. We are all of course very excited to see what the following year will bring!
