HOW TO FIND AND STYLE THE PERFECT PAIR OF JEANS - BY FIONA FAGAN
I don't know about you guys but I'm always on the lookout for the perfect pair of jeans! My current obsession is vintage Levi's 501!
HOW TO STYLE IT
They are higher wasted and if you cut off the ends (above your ankle) they fit in perfectly well with the current trend of high waisted short cropped jeans. You can roll the bottom of the legs up but I find you get a better shape leg if you cut them off!
They then look great with an ankle boot or flat loafer or in summer a candle or a mule with a little cropped top or shirt tucked in!
They also look great with the classic white T-shirt and a colourful coat or kimono over.
WHERE TO FIND THEM?
The best and my most favourite vintage shops are all around Brick Lane in East London.
ABSOLUTE VINTAGE on Cheshire Street in E2 - A Canadian girl called Marcia owns it and has the best collection of coats, furs, dresses and shoes.
BLITZ on Hanbury street in E1 - it doesn't have the beautiful selected pieces absolute vintage has but it has tons of Levi's at a great price - I've recently bought 2 pairs from there!
BLONDIE on Commercial Street - This shop is a mecca for vintage Dior and Emillio Pucci dresses. It's way more expensive but they have a lot of vintage designer pieces. I bought a beautiful vintage cream lace cape from there years ago that I still wear!
All in all take a trip to Brick Lane, grab a coffee from one of the many great coffee shops (nude is my fav) and potter around, you will stumble across shop after shop and great vintages finds.
While we are on this subject I have to mention my favourite and the best vintage markets in London:
SPITALFIELDS on Thursdays and PORTOBELLO MARKET on a Fridays - if you want to get the best pieces, you must get there extremely early!! These are for the more hardcore vintage shoppers like myself ;). Lots of fashion designers go to these to get samples or inspiration that they then copy for their collections by the way...
Happy vintage shopping peeps!
