ZSANETT'S FAVOURITE MEN'S FRAGRANCES THAT YOU CAN TOTALLY WEAR AS A WOMAN
I (Zsanett) think there is something so sexy about a woman wearing a men's perfume. Us modern millennial women should just go for whatever scent we like really. I seem to follow this philosophy so much so, it seems like I only own men's perfume-see above. Ha. It wasn't planned to be honest, it just happened, but I don't mind. I'm not one to have millions of different scents lying around, I normally have one that I wear daily, and one I use only when I'm in the mood, due to it being a bit too powerful perhaps.
My every day perfume is Grey Vetiver from Tom Ford. I love a citrusy, woody and fresh perfume, I've always been drawn to it. My second perfume is Ambre Tigré from Givenchy. A very powerful scent with amber, vanilla and labdanum. Very sensual and a bit too much for every day use for me.
I really like the fact that more and more brands are coming out with an all UNISEX line, seeing it's 2017 and you are finally encouraged to just be yourself. Who is there to say women can't wear men's cologne, and men can't wear a nice floral scent? So I decided to go on a little stroll at Selfridges to find and collect my favourite perfumes that were either unisex or were meant to be a men's perfume. Now most of the ones I collected are ones that even a man's man would pick, but I would also really enjoy wearing it as a woman.
DIOR'S LATEST ALL UNISEX RANGE
I really like the fact Dior's new range is all unisex. All of them smell lovely, but OUD ISPAHAN and THÉ CACHEMIRE were my favourite scents from the collection. Once again, I'm choosing ones I know the most old fashioned man would be happy with.
MY TWO FAVOURITES
"The enchanting encounter between the woody strength of Oud and the power of Labdanum Absolute, tempered by Damascus Rose. This fragrance captures the Orient." François Demachy
For some reason I couldn't find this bottle even on Dior's website. Interesting! Anyway, they have it at Selfridges, and it's a very refreshing and manly fragrance.
BYREDO has so many fragrances I loved, but SUNDAY COLOGNE in particular was one of the typical male scents that stood out for me. They are all unisex as well, but they will of course have some scents that are more popular with men, SUNDAY COLOGNE was one of them. It's citrusy and crisp, with bergamot, cardamom and star anise top notes, lavender, incense and geranium heart and moss, patchouli and vetiver base. Yum!
FAVOURITE MALE SCENT
MAISON FRANCIS KURKDJIAN
"Fougère, a fern-like perfume present in many classic men's fragrances, helps define the robust air of Maison Francis Kurkdjian's 'Masculin Pluriel' Eau de Toilette. Formulated with notes of soft Leather, rich Haitian Vetiver and Indonesian Patchouli, this strong yet clean scent is lent subtle effervescence with a touch of Provençal Lavender." -Editor's notes at Mr Porter
You may have realised by now, I love Vetiver.. ;)
I had three top picks from Bella Bellissima. COLOGNE TOUJOURS, PERFECT MAN and VETIVER SPICE. My favourite however was PERFECT MAN. It's a rich, earthy effusion of soft woody notes provides the warming backdrop for exotic Venezuelan tonka, white thyme and aromatic basil, elevated by an unexpected twist of fresh green mandarin.
Absolutely in love with the idea of the whole 'Replica' line. Every single perfume is supposed to remind you of a feeling you had. A memory. From a beach walk, to a lazy Sunday morning, with the scent of fresh linen. The scent of a flower market, or a Jazz club. It's an absolutely fantastic idea, and even tho the scents are not your typical perfumes, it has blown my mind. You can even find a perfume that smells like an old lady's lipstick. What.
From the men's point of view, I think JAZZ CLUB is amazing. "The tradition has been immortalised through the generations, handing down the address of this Brooklyn jazz club. An anthology of classic notes and coppery tones, between deep armchairs and a handful of bar stools, with subdued lighting reflected on the piano where cocktails linger, wafting their liquory notes."
My personal favourites were PROMENADE IN THE GARDENS, BEACH WALK and FLOWER MARKET. I also really loved their scent called UNTITLED.
Kilian is another brand that only has unisex perfumes. Every single perfume comes in a reusable box, that you can use as a clutch bag for example, or a lockable box. Such a lovely idea. The bottles are refillable as well, which is a plus, no need to get a brand new bottle every time you run out! They have a fantastic selection, and surprisingly I liked most of their scents! My favourite was BAMBOO HARMONY from the range called "Asian Tales".
"Bamboo Harmony feels like a sip of pure white tea in a bamboo forest."
