JOSHUA TREE, CALIFORNIA - A WEEKEND GET AWAY IN AN AIRSTREAM

Have you always wanted to explore California? If so, here is a great tip from me (Annabell). Just before New Years Eve, my Boyfriend and I flew out to Los Angeles. He had planned a little surprise trip for us, so I had no idea where we were going. I honestly had a little idea but he denied any of my questions. But when we got closer to the actual location, I had an idea.

He had booked us a vintage airstream at the Joshua Tree desert, just about 2,5 hours drive from Los Angeles. I couldn’t think of a better place to spend the last few days of 2017 at. Oh my, we both fell in love with this gorgeous place straight away. What an amazing idea to rent out 3 different renovated and well designed airstreams on a land at Joshua Tree in California!

You basically sleep and rest in the airstream, have a private patio with hammocks and sun beds and share the bathroom/outdoor shower as well as the kitchen and communal space with other desert wanderer. Oh have I mentioned that there is also a hot tub? :)

Its so well designed, I totally fell in love with the eye for detail in the airstreams as well as in the communal areas. This air bnb space is fairly new, I think the 3 owners have been running it for about 8 months. If you have any questions or problems then there is a lovely care taker on the side. We had to ask him for help on our first morning, as the lock on the airstreams door was broken and we the only way to get out or inside was to climb through a tiny window ;) haha what an experience that was.

The locations is just breathtaking and we ended up having some little photo sessions during our 2 day stay..see below :). I hope you like this tip and may have found some California trip inspiration.

You can book the airstreams on air bnb here.

THE AIRSTREAM

"Our 1964 vintage Airstream will transport you back to another era when the Beatles were stars and cell phones were sci-fi dreams. Open skies, mountain views and moon gazing awaits you on this peaceful 5 acres of desert land.
Come loose yourself among the wild Joshua Trees."

"This sleeping space features hand made decor and thrift found treasures- blending what we love from the past with the present."

HAMMOCKS EVERYWHERE

There are lots of Hammocks around, you will have at least 2 on the patio of your airstream and there also many more on the property.

THE CLUB HOUSE - COMMUNAL AREA

All guests will have access to the lovely decorated and super cosy communal space in The Clubhouse. This is where you can use the restroom/shower, use the indoor kitchen space for some coffee/tea and cook, listen to some records and just relax.

There is also a bigger outdoor kitchen with a BBQ, an outdoor shower (for the hot months in the desert) a hot tub, a beautiful huge wooden communal table and fireplace.

RECORD PLAYER AND TAPE PLAYER

What else do you need, when you get a great selection of vintage record and tape players which are also connected to some speakers outside? Such a great idea! Loving all those touches to make your stay unforgettable.

ROMANCE AT NIGHT

I find those fairy lights just absolutely romantic which are on the patio of each airstream. Together with the moonlight they make the location even more magical by night.

CRAVING A HEALTHY BRUNCH SPOT? WE GOT YOU!

FullSizeRender.jpg

With January hitting us, as usual, we all crave a little healthiness into our lives after major over eating an all fatty foods possible in the Festive Season. You still would like to catch up with all your friends, maybe go for a nice brunch somewhere I assume? I (Zsanett) got just the place for you. I have mentioned in one of my earlier posts already-click here to read, that the girls and I have been fans of this cute little café, located on famous Portobello road in Notting Hill, called  Farm Girl Café for a while now. Well just from what we've seen on social media, since the two times we tried to go check it out over the Summer it was always so packed, the queue was down the street. Seeing none of us are famous for being overly patient, we gave up. :))

Third time the charm tho'! I've suddenly decided one morning just after Christmas it was time to try again, and lucky for me, they had space for me and my boyfriend straight away. And his dog as well! Score! Food is not only healthy and ridiculously good looking, the staff is really friendly AND they are dog friendly. LOVE!

FARM GIRL

What you need to know about them is that it's healthy, nourishing and simple. I mean seriously. Would you look at that avo on toast?! Heaven.

The original Farm Girl, Rose’s childhood spent on an Australian farm means she’s hardier than she looks and appreciates simple country living just as much as the slick-city life she now enjoys in London.

Anthony Hood (aka Farm Boy) shares the Farm Girl appreciation for an outdoor, activity-filled lifestyle. Having grown up surrounded by Swiss snow capped peaks, he loves an alpine adventure; although these days, a Sunday stroll with canine companions is equally as good.

Channelling his culinary creativity straight into the Farm Girl Kitchen, Benoit Marmoiton ensures our menu is every bit as delicious as it is nourishing. Having worked as a private chef for many years, travelling the world and experimenting with international cuisines, he specialises in delivering healthy dishes without compromising on taste.

Green, warm and friendly. And not trying to be perfect.

PINK COFFEE

Their coffee comes in all different colours too, I only decided to go for pink because well, I love pink. Shocker :))

KOMBUCHA!

IMG_8792.jpg

I love the fact that they have all kinds of healthy drinks. All bottled up as well, so you can take it with you if you wanted to. I went for a pomegranate flavoured kombucha.

Kombucha is fermented black or green tea that has been around for thousands of years and has multiple health benefits, and full of probiotics. It helps with liver detoxication, immune support, improved digestion and even weight loss just to name a few.

THE MENU

Is it bad that I want literally everything off this menu?! ;)

Hope I could help with an awesome tip on where to go when craving healthy but pretty food for your next brunch adventure. Keep your eyes peeled as I'm forever searching for my next favourite spot and I'll make sure to share all the favourites with you all! XX

Back in the day together with the rest of the a1 boys :)

As well as welcoming a new year today, we are also welcoming our newest guest blogger. For January, we are keeping it within the 'THE 4 OF US – family', as we will be joined by Sara's other half - Ben Adams.

Some of you might remember Ben from the time he was championing the curtain look and topping hit lists all over the world with his band a1, who had big success with songs like 'Cought In The Middle' and 'Same all Brand New You'.

WHAT BEN IS UP TO TODAY

You can go and watch EUGENIUS! at The Other Palace in Victoria from the 22nd of January until the 3rd of March. Tickets are available here!

You can go and watch EUGENIUS! at The Other Palace in Victoria from the 22nd of January until the 3rd of March. Tickets are available here!

Today Ben is still a very busy man who is still heavily involved within the music and performing industry. He is currently touring the UK as the leading man in Flash Dance the musical, writing and producing songs for some of the biggest artists, releasing classical piano music as well as a solo album early 2018, and still performing all over the world with a1. But most importantly, Ben has, together with his good friend Chris Wilkins, written a brilliant new musical called EUGENIUS! which is about to be put on the West End Stage and is premiering this January at Andrew Lloyd Webber's new theatre 'The Other Palace' - after a sell out Palladium performance last year. How exciting is that :)

During Ben's time together with us here on the blog you will find out lots more about EUGENIUS! as we will be following parts of the process from the rehearsal room to the show actually being on stage in front of an audience, and we will also find out more of the process behind creating the musical. Ben will also of course be sharing some of his stories from back in the day touring with a1, and about his experiences being part of such a big pop group at only 16 years old.

It is going to be an exciting month, so please make sure to keep visiting us here on www.the4ofus.co.uk.

We are very much looking forward to another great year together with you guys!

THE 4 OF US

TOP TIPS

Victoria Savory STORM Book.jpg

Tip #1- Have your mobile phone fully charged

It may sound silly but it’s vital to ensure your phone is fully charged. It’s important for navigation, entertainment and even security. You never know when you may need to call your agent, or if your agent needs to get hold of you for last minute scheduling changes. I would personally recommend investing in a portable phone charger so you can always have a backup. That way you’re always connected!

Tip #2- Do your homework

Both at castings and on set it’s important to know who your working with. Check the call sheet in advance and research the project, photographer and team on set. This will not only help you know what sort of style the shoot is itself, but know the style of the photographer, stylist and makeup artist. It’s also handy to know the location and mood board. You may not always be provided with this information as things often change last minute, but remember you can always ask your agent and see what they can tell you.

Tip #3- Plan your wardrobe

Both for castings and for shoots it’s always good to make sure you look your best. Simple, plain but well fitted outfits help promote your body shape but also gives you a chance to reflect your personality. You don’t always need to spend a lot of money, but maybe consider investing in investment pieces. These can then become your staple pieces which you can miz with alternative outfits! With underwear also remember to have plain pieces such as black, nude or white to help you on set and with polaroid’s.

Tip #4- Don’t wear makeup

This will help you save time when in makeup on set. In modelling your skin is generally exposed to a lot of makeup, whether in editorials or shows, so keeping your skin fresh and natural to help protect it is crucial. Especially when you’re on route to a shoot try and ensure your skin is always clean to help keep it on its best form. Even in castings clients usually prefer a natural look to be able to see your true complexion. Less is always more!

Tip #5- Stay connected

You never know when you may work with the same photographer, makeup artist, stylist or other models again. So it’s good to stay connected and remember who you’ve been working with. This can especially work to your advantage in castings, the fashion industry is a much smaller, connected industry than you may think and respecting those who you work with will definitely pay of in the long run! Consider following them online, that way if you do recognise them in the future you can keep updated with their work and stay connected!
